What is Phoodle?
Phoodle is a free daily word puzzle where every answer is a food word. The format is the one you already know — guess a five-letter word, read the colored tiles, narrow it down — but the answer always comes from the kitchen. That small change matters: a cook has a real edge over someone who just knows a lot of common English words. Find the word and the game shows a Phoodle Fact, a short bit of food knowledge tied to the answer. It runs in a browser with nothing to install.
How to play: 5 letters, 6 tries, food words
The official rules: guess the Phoodle in six tries, each guess a five-letter word. The answer is “a food-related term including cooking techniques, kitchen gadgets, ingredients, and more.” After each guess the tiles change color:
- Green — the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
- Yellow — the letter is in the word but in a different spot.
- Dark — the letter isn’t in the word at all.
The official examples use TACOS, FIBER and BAKED — which tells you the range: dishes, nutrition words and cooking verbs all count. A new Phoodle goes up every day.
Stuck on today’s Phoodle?
We don’t post Phoodle answers or daily hints — the food angle is the whole point, and a spoiler ruins it faster than in a plain Wordle. What actually helps is thinking in the categories the rules name:
- Techniques — what you do to food: baking, frying, slicing, whisking.
- Kitchen gadgets — the tools on the counter and in the drawer.
- Ingredients — produce, spices, grains, dairy, cuts of meat.
Once a couple of letters are placed, run down each category instead of shuffling vowels. And make your second guess a food word too, even if it can’t be right — it rules out kitchen vocabulary much faster than a generic opener does.
Is there a Phoodle unlimited or archive mode?
Not that we could find. The official site presents one puzzle a day — no replay, no endless mode, no list of past puzzles. What it does offer is a free Phoodle account, which saves your progress and stats so you can pick up on another device. If one food word a day isn’t enough, the games further down this page all play the same guess-and-narrow loop, and Polygonle has a free unlimited mode.
The Phoodle app and Mini Crossword
There’s an official Android app on Google Play. Its listing describes the same game — find a food-centric word, then see a Phoodle Fact — and its release notes mention fixes for a Phoodle Mini Crossword, a second, crossword-shaped puzzle from the same publisher. We’re going by the app’s own notes here; the web game itself doesn’t describe the crossword.
Where to play Phoodle
Play it at phoodle.net, the official site. It’s free, a new puzzle appears every day, and you don’t need an account unless you want your stats to follow you.
